EPISODE 8: MY 8-STEP PERSONAL CONTENT CREATION PROCESS

    by Simone Sauter

You know that you need to create some amazing content so that you can serve the needs of your audience, position yourself as an expert and find clients with ease.

But making sense of all the steps you need to take to get from your idea to your finished piece of content and getting it optimised for Google and social media can seem like a huge task to tackle.

Especially if you don’t know how.

So as I promised in the last blog post, today I’m going to share with you my personal content creation process. If you follow this process step-by-step (whilst adding your own personal flair), you can slash the time it takes to get everything done, overcome that sense of overwhelm and create content that really helps you to get noticed.

    Let’s just dive right in.

If you need help or want to set up an entire PR and Publicity Strategy for your coaching business, schedule a free call with me so we can figure it out together.

    STEP 1: I CHOOSE A COMPELLING TOPIC

The very first step is obviously to choose a topic. This is probably the quickest part of all, especially if you’ve been following my tips and gathering your ideas in one place like in a notebook or on Evernote. You simply need to take a look and narrow down your choices before picking one topic to focus on this time.

I think about what I want to talk to you about, what content I’d like to cover and what value I’d like to add to your life. Then I head over to the KWfinder and do my keyword research so I can discover how to choose the best words to reach you.

STEP 2: I CREATE THE PODCAST

When it comes to creating the podcast, I first stand in front of my whiteboard and write the topic of the episode right there in the middle. Then I do a brainstorming session and I map everything out there. Finally, I structure the episode so I can get really clear and precise on what I want to share with you before sitting down and actually recording the episode.

STEP 3: I SEND THE RECORDING TRANSCRIPT TO MY VA

Once I’ve recorded the podcast, I send it to Temi.com. This is a service that sends you a transcript of your spoken words quickly and easily. It also works well on your video or whatever you want to convert into a text format.

I send this transcript to my virtual assistant and she then creates a blog article from it, then sends the completed blog post back to me.

STEP 4: I EDIT AND UPLOAD MY PODCAST

While my VA is working on the blog post, I edit the podcast then upload it.

My tool of choice for editing is Movavi (it is super simple and nothing fancy!). I use this to add an intro and an outro and make it all fancy and sounding professional.

Then I upload it to Transistor. This is an amazing tool to use if you want to start a podcast. You can simply upload the MP3 file to their website and create the show notes.

    STEP 5: I OFFER A CONTENT UPGRADE

With many of the podcasts and blog posts I create, I offer a content upgrade. This is simply an extension of the content that I’ve shared. I use it to build my email list and add extra value to my clients.

First, I head over to Canva and I create the content – the graphics, the workbook and everything else. Then I upload this workbook to Dropbox.

Next, I’ll create a tag and write an email with Infusionsoft which includes the link you can click to get your extra content. I also create a lead box within Leadpages and I put it all together. This means you can sign up, click the link and get your hands on the FREE bonus download.

STEP 6: I CREATE GRAPHICS WITH CANVA

I’ll also need to create various types of graphics for my content promotion on social media and other places. Again, I use Canva for this.

I start by creating a Pinterest graphic. Then a blog post preview graphic for Facebook. Then a graphic for Instagram. Then a graphic for the content upgrade too.

Last but not least, I also create a little fifteen-second video for my Instagram stories feed by using a tool called Wavve. This website allows you to upload a graphic, upload an MP3 and then it makes a short video for you which you can post into Instagram stories. (Check out my Instagram feed here  and you’ll see what I’m talking about.)

STEP 7: I UPLOAD THE CONTENT TO MY WEBSITE

Then the next task in my content creation process is to upload the content to my website.

This includes adding and styling the blog post, uploading the graphics and linking to the podcast URL. I also link the URL of the blog post back to Transistor and add the social media graphics and descriptions for SEO in the WordPress backend.

STEP 8: I PROMOTE MY NEW EPISODE

Step eight is one of the most important – the content promotion.

I start this with Pinterest, using Tailwind to get maximum impact with the minimum of hands-on effort. I also use a tool called Storrito for Instagram stories and another called Grum to help with my posts.

Once all this is done, I’ll create and send a newsletter in Infusionsoft to share the content I’ve just created. Done!

So that’s exactly how I create my content, including all the steps I take as I go. It might interest you to know that it takes me around five hours to create all of it, from the content idea right to the final blog post stage, so it’s quite some work.

But it’s very much worth it. Work your way through the eight steps and you’ll create great content that has been optimised for the search engines and for social media and will help you to solve your clients’ problems, become more visible and get more clients with ease.

    SHARING IS CARING
