    EPISODE 5: PICK ONE CONTENT CHANNEL AND ONE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR MESSAGE HEARD. SERIOUSLY.

    When you’re building your coaching business, it can feel overwhelming to even think about the huge amount of social media marketing you’re supposed to be doing.

    Instagram? Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? YouTube? Snapchat?

    How are you supposed to keep creating high-quality content, engage with your ideal audience and build a rock-solid business on all of these platforms at once?

    Simple. You can’t.

    Let me tell you why you need to relax, take a deep breath and then choose just one social media platform to promote your coaching business.

    WHAT?! JUST ONE?!

    Yes, just one.

    You see, there’s no way in the world you could ever keep up with that ever-growing number of social media platforms and focus your full energy into providing what your audience needs without heading for some serious burnout.

    You’d end up spending far too much time running around trying to market yourself without getting any solid ROI (return on investment) or having enough time left in your working day to actually work on your business.

    Besides, your ideal client is just as overwhelmed as you are with it all so just keep life easy.

    They don’t force themselves to juggle the demands of multiple social media accounts. They stick to the platform that they love and they hang out there when they want to connect with the world.

    That is where you want to be. In the place where your ideal client wants to hang out and where you want to be too.

    CHOOSE THE CHANNEL AND PLATFORM YOU LOVE

    It goes without saying that if you choose a platform for the sole reason that your ideal client hangs out there, but you’re not such a fan, you’ll be making a big mistake.

    You’ll only end up disliking or even hating your social media activities, which brings negative energy to your business and makes you much more likely to procrastinate when it comes to doing it.

    For example, I chose to create a podcast because I love podcasting.

    I don’t like making videos or editing videos. It’s not my style.

    The only kind of videos I do are on Instagram Live because then I can just talk to you guys and connect with you. That’s how I feel comfortable.

    I don’t feel comfortable sitting in front of a camera talking to a lens and sharing my stuff with you that way. It’s much more enjoyable for me to sit behind a microphone when I want to connect.

    The same goes for Facebook. I’m not on facebook. Well, I’ll be honest – I do have a page. But when you go to my Facebook page, you’ll see a post that says ‘Focus’ and explains why I’m not on Facebook. (Go and check it out!)

    For me, connecting with others is about energy. I sincerely believe that if we’re not aligned with the platforms we’re using, we can’t be our best selves.

    Don’t ever worry that people won’t find you if you don’t pick the ‘right’ one. The right people will find you as long as you’re delivering your message, as long as you deliver.

    Find what feels good and welcome more of it into your life.

    THIS ISN’T THE USUAL MARKETING ADVICE

    I’m well aware that this isn’t the advice you’ll get from most online marketers out there who tell you that you should be everywhere doing everything (well, more or less).

    But this is the approach that I believe in.

    It’s the approach that helps you bring out the best in yourself, minimise stress and overwhelm, and get the best results from your input.

    It’s also one that has worked for me in my own businesses.

    “BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU, SIMONE?!”

    I know what you’re thinking.

    You’re thinking, “Oh, she says that I should be only on one platform but she has a podcast AND a blog”.

    Yes, that is true. But I have a virtual assistant (VA).

    So for me, the only thing I need to do is talk into a microphone to share my message with you. Then I send this audio and the transcription to my VA and she helps correct any minor non-native mistakes.

    That’s why I have a blog. Whilst I do create the content, I don’t physically write this blog myself.

    Of course, if you have a VA, you can do the same thing.

    For example, you could also ask your VA to share the content you’ve already shared on one social media platform onto another.

    Say for example you’ve shared some content on Instagram. You can then ask your VA to share that content on Facebook too, telling them to come and follow you on Instagram. Still, you’re only focusing on ONE social media platform, yet you’re sharing your content.

    But if it’s just you running the show at the moment, I really recommend that you stick to just the one social media platform.

    Don’t think that you have to be everywhere online, because that simply isn’t true. You’ll only burn yourself out and waste energy that would be better spent on the core of your business.

    So remember, make sure you focus your efforts on just one channel and one social media platform.

    Deliver great content, connect with your audience and really bond with them.

    That’s the best way to build a rock-solid, successful coaching business.
